DORA KOKAS
Born in Hungary in 1992, Dora started to learn the cello at the an early age of 4 in her birth town Kaposvár from her mother, the noted teacher Ágnes Farkas .
She started participating at cello-competitions at the early age of 7, and ever since she has always been awarded top prizes. She was given the First Prize at international cello-competitions such as: Várpalota – Hungary, Gorizia – Italy, Porec – Croatia, Zagreb – Croatia, at the National Cello Competition in Szolnok 2002 where she also got a Special Prize in 1999 as the youngest contestant. She’s got 2nd prize in Liezen International Cello Contest – Austria and the Bronze Medal in Dolny Kubin – Slovak Republic.
Dóra had played at some of Europe’s famous concert halls such as the Mozarteum of Salzburg, the Teatro Malibran of Venice, recitals in Verona, Ljubljana, Klagenfurt, Brussels, Budapest, Pécs, Kaposvár and already in 2001 (at the age of 9!) as a guest artist she played a recital in Prussia Cove International Music Seminar in England with pianist Péter Nagy.
Together with her recently established string quartet, the Kelemen Quartet, she attends private lessons of notable artists such as Ferenc Rados, Zoltán Kocsis, András Schiff, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Gábor Sipos or Günter Pichler.
Dóra is performing on a Joseph Homolka cello built in Kuttenberg (1863) and with a P. Serdet Parisian bow that were kindly on loan to her by Mr. Pierre Stonborough from Vienna.
