Founded in 1996, the casalQuartet’s formal training took place under the watchful eyes of the carmina Quartet in Zurich, the Alban Berg in Cologne and Walter Levin in Basel.

The Quartet has also benefited from the interaction with musicians as Martha Argerich, Clemens Hagen, Nikolaj Znaider, Patricia Kopatchinskaya, Sol Gabetta, Giora Feidmann, Benjamin Schmid, Maurice Steger, Michael Zisman, Peter Sadlo, Julius Berger, Cristoph Pregardien, Reti Bieri, Alina Pogostkina, Ensemble Raro or Ensemble Wien-Berlin.

The casalQuartet has performed nearly 1.000 concerts in many parts of the world, including such renowned festivals and concert halls as Schleswig Holstein Festival, Beethoven Festival Bonn, Rheingau Festival, Essen Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Tonhalle Zürich, Les museiques Basel, Budapest Spring Festival, Luxembourg Philharmonie, Lucerne Festival, Musikfestspiele Potsdam, Laieszhalle Hamburg and Muziekgebouw Amsterdam.

The four musicians of the casalQuartet are Daria Zappa, Rachel Späth, Markus Fleck and Andreas Fleck.
